Spirited chouette play before the tournament.  Each week's tournament begins at 8:00PM.  Some arrive at 4:30 - 5:00PM every week and play until midnight,  sometimes even later.

  • Top:  Bob H., Kelaine, Ernie, Malcolm. ^ ^ ^ ^
  •  Middle:  Roy and Walter
  • Bottom:  Dian and Steve while Jennifer observes

Two newcomers joined in this weeks tournament, and one (Peter) almost made it to the finals.  Peter Ford and Don Fleshner both played well and we want to welcome you to the Dallas Backgammon League.  Remember that when attending for the first time, we pay your tournament entry fee of $15, so come on and play free -- the first time is on us!  If you like it and get hooked on this fine organization, our gamble pays off because we are betting that you will like the competitive play, have fun, and want to come back.  It's good to see Bob Hamman back, even though he knocked me off in round one last night.

We had some fireworks last night.  Spirited play, especially from Z!  The dice were good to me in round one and abandoned me in round two.  Z's dice followed through, so along with his excellent play, he was in good form.  Curtis greeted a newcomer with a sound and smashing defeat.  Z noted that that is no way to treat a newcomer, Curtis (consider this a severe reprimand :)). Roy's dice were as cold as I have ever seen any dice while Jim Dwyer was winning with reckless abandon.  A good time was had by all.  Walter and Jim D. were playing a marathon when Z and I left.

14 players attended this week resulting in the following:

Round 1:

  • Rich and Walter drew a bye
  • Roy beat Kelaine
  • Jim Dwyer beat Cem
  • Curtis beat Barbara W. - Welcome Barbara!
  • Di beat Ernie

  • Update:  Jim D. finally won
  • Z beat Curtis
  • So Z and Jim D. Split the prize $$
